🥛 General
What does camel milk taste like?
Most people say, "It tastes like milk!" — and they're usually surprised by how familiar and refreshing it is. Camel milk has a smooth, slightly salty, clean flavor. It contains less sugar than cow milk, so it's not as sweet, but it has a rich, satisfying taste. The consistency is very similar to 2% fat milk.
The best way to find out is to try it! 🐪 Here is what others are saying →
Why is camel milk so expensive?
Instead of comparing camel milk to cow milk, think of it more like comparing it to your entire vitamin cabinet — the nutritional value is that high. A few reasons the price is higher than regular milk:
- Camels produce less than half the milk that cows produce in a day
- There are far fewer camels in the US compared to cows
- The milking process is more involved — a calf must be present for a camel to release her milk
- You only need 3–8 oz per day to get the full nutritional benefits, making it very cost-effective as a supplement
Camel Culture works hard to keep prices lower than our competition — we want to be the most accessible camel milk in the US without compromising quality. Read more about the price of camel milk →
Should I buy camel milk powder or liquid camel milk?
Both have excellent nutritional value — it comes down to your lifestyle and how you prefer to use it:
- Liquid milk — Fresh, smooth, and delicious straight from the glass. Great for drinking daily or using in coffee, cereal, and recipes
- Powder — Long shelf life, easy to store, and mixes effortlessly into smoothies, protein shakes, coffee, oatmeal, baked goods, mac and cheese, and more
Many customers keep both on hand — liquid for everyday drinking and powder for cooking and travel!
Do you sell raw camel milk?
For human consumption: No. Raw camel milk cannot legally be shipped across US state lines. Our milk is gently pasteurized using a Low Input, Low Impact (LILI) process — heated to 150°F for just 15 seconds then immediately cooled. This gentle process removes harmful bacteria while preserving the natural nutrients, flavor, and integrity of the milk. Our milk is never ultra-pasteurized or ultra-homogenized.
What is the shelf life of camel milk?
💡 Tip: Always check the best-by date printed on your bottle. Keep it frozen until you're ready to enjoy it, and shake well before drinking!
Why does my camel milk separate?
Separation is completely normal — and actually a great sign! Our milk is non-homogenized, which means we don't force the fat and liquid to combine artificially. Fat molecules naturally rise to form a cream layer at the top, just like milk used to look straight from the farm.
It is not curdled, not spoiled — it's pure, all-natural milk doing what milk is supposed to do. Simply shake well before drinking and you're good to go!
Do you sell camel milk in retail stores or wholesale?
Yes! We are currently stocked in around 700 retail stores across the US and growing. We sell both camel milk (pints, liters, variety packs) and camel meat at wholesale pricing.
To carry our products in your store, simply reach out with your store name, location, contact information, and what you're interested in carrying — we'll take it from there!
Can I cook or bake with camel milk?
Yes! Camel milk is a perfect 1-to-1 substitute for cow milk in virtually any recipe. The mild, smooth flavor blends seamlessly into cooking and baking without changing the taste of your dish. Try it in:
- Smoothies and protein shakes
- Coffee and tea
- Pancakes, muffins, and baked goods
- Mac and cheese, soups, and sauces
- Oatmeal and overnight oats

💪 Health & Wellness
What if I am lactose intolerant?
Great news — many of our customers are lactose intolerant and are able to enjoy camel milk without the digestive issues they experience with cow milk! Camel milk is naturally lower in lactose than cow milk and also lacks two of the most allergenic casein proteins found in traditional dairy.
We always recommend starting with a small amount (3–4 oz) to see how your body responds before drinking a full serving. Read more about camel milk and lactose →
How much camel milk should I drink per day?
You don't need to drink a lot — a small daily serving is enough to enjoy the full nutritional benefits!
Is your camel milk organic?
All of our farm practices and pastures follow 100% organic standards — no GMOs, no soy, no gluten, and no corn in the feed. The camels graze freely on organic grass and hay.
The milk itself has not yet received official USDA organic certification, but we are committed to maintaining the highest organic farming practices and working toward certification.
Is camel milk good for kids?
Yes! Many of our customers give camel milk to their children — including young babies and infants — and kids tend to love the smooth, mild taste. Parents love that it's packed with nutrients, lower in lactose, and free from many of the allergens found in traditional cow milk.
As always, if you have any concerns about introducing a new food to your child's diet, we recommend consulting your pediatrician first.
🐪 Farm & Practices
Where does your camel milk come from?
Our fresh Grade-A camel milk comes from a beautiful family dairy farm in the rolling hills of Missouri — the largest camel dairy in the USA, with over 250 camels on 1,000 acres of organic pasture.
The farm is fully committed to the highest standards:
- ✅ Organic practices — no GMOs, no soy, no gluten, no corn
- ✅ Pasture raised on 1,000 acres of grassy hills
- ✅ Flash pasteurized on-site to preserve freshness
- ✅ Bottled and frozen directly on the farm before shipping
What do your camels eat?
Our camels spend most of their days out on organic pastures grazing freely on grass and hay. They are also fed a carefully selected grain mixture that is soy-free, corn-free, and bean-free, made up of:
- Flax seed
- Sunflower seed
- Alfalfa
- Oats
No artificial additives, no fillers — just clean, wholesome feed that produces clean, wholesome milk.
How many camels are on the Missouri farm?
Our Missouri farm currently has over 250 camels on 1,000 acres — making it the largest camel dairy in the USA! The herd continues to grow as demand for camel milk increases across the country.
Is milking a camel different from milking a cow?
Very different! Unlike cows, camels will only release their milk after first feeding their baby calf. The calf must be present during milking — it's a fascinating and uniquely natural process.
A camel releases milk for about 90 seconds per milking session, which is much shorter than a cow. And while cows produce 8–10 gallons per day, camels produce just 6–8 liters per day — which is one of the reasons camel milk costs more than cow milk.
Do your camels have one hump or two?
One hump! All of our camels are dromedary camels 🐪 — the single-humped variety most commonly found in the Middle East and parts of Africa. Bactrian camels (two humps) are a different species found in Central Asia.
Do you offer farm tours?
The farm is not open to the public on a regular basis — it's an active working dairy and keeping the environment calm and consistent is important for the camels and the quality of the milk.
That said, we occasionally host farm open-house events! Sign up for our email list to be the first to know when those happen.
Is your camel milk pasteurized?
Yes — our milk is gently pasteurized using a Low Input, Low Impact (LILI) process. Here's what that means:
- Milk is heated to 150°F for just 15 seconds
- Then immediately cooled
- This removes harmful bacteria while preserving the natural nutrients and fresh flavor
Unlike most commercially sold milk that is ultra-pasteurized (which uses much higher heat and destroys more nutrients), our milk is never ultra-pasteurized. It is also never ultra-homogenized. We want the milk to be as close to its natural state as possible.

Do you ship camel milk to Canada?
Not at this time — and we wish we could! High dairy import taxes, customs requirements, and long transit times currently make it very difficult for us to guarantee the quality and freshness our customers deserve by the time the milk arrives.
We are actively exploring the necessary compliance steps to make Canadian shipping possible. Sign up for our email list and we'll announce it as soon as it's available. Stay tuned! 🐪
